Healthcare

Improving the local hospital in Melolo and its policlinics is one of our first projects. The primary focus is on the construction of a new kitchen at the hospital for the benefit of the patients. The pictures show the extent of the previous situation. Families of the patients, mostly poor people living far away, had to provide the meals for their hospitalized relatives. In the following  video message Dr Lely Harakai-head of the hospital explains why a new kitchen was so important.

We would like to express our thanks to everyone who contributed to the Melolo hospital kitchen!

Request for mosquito nets

In addition to her desire for a new kitchen, Dr. Lely Harakai has explained the urgent need for impregnated mosquito nets. These nets are required not only for use in the hospital, but also for people’s homes, with strict instructions how to use them. Malaria is a difficult disease to fight in Sumba.
